De just took me on a date to see War Of The Worlds and it was very good. Considering you enjoy suspense thrillers and are ok with sci-fi. But if you consider that the aliens were hardly shown at all, it was basically the world under attack and lots of death which could be looked at as if it were being caused by other humans. There was this one scene that was making my stomach really queasy (which doesn't usually happen, the more gore the better) where the camera panned across a section of land and it just all tinted red, even in the distance, everything was just red...like blood. Because they were killing humans and shooting blood (it looked that way in one shot) out...like a spray and it was sick. Everywhere.
The whole perspective of the family trying to get through it and not knowing what was going on made it very good for me. And I think the little girl (who is not so little anymore) was good in it. I forget her name right now, but she was in the series Taken, playing a hybrid human/alien (more spielberg stuff). Dakota Fanning! That's it. But anyhow, even if it's not aliens this movie shows what happens when the world/country is in a crisis that is uncontrollable. There are no more rules and violence and destruction is everywhere. It's really disturbing to think of. Especially since I have been reading this book called "the end of oil" and it talks about the shift from oil to a new energy supply and well, if one isn't devised pretty soon it's going to be really rocky and bascially a crisis and this movie made me think somewhat about that and how it's going to be really hard, no more easy life, and possibly random voilence from people around us just to get what they need to survive comfortably as they can. :/

In other news they showed a new trailor for willy wonka and I SO can't wait. I was waiting to see if they'd play the trailor for HP4, but no.
Ok, Jack Black playing a main serious part in the new King Kong movie? That is weird. I also want to see the chronicles of narnia, even if it turned out to be a religious thing, I couldn't tell when I was watching the lion the witch and the wardrobe when I was younger.

The most exciteing thing? Book 6, the second to last book EVER for Harry Potter comes out in less than 14 days. I am thinking of requesting that day off of work so I can pick it up early and read without interruption or is that too dorky? Obsessive? I don't care. It's what I am going to do. :D

Which reminds me that Harry and The Potters are playing a free show in coventry in some book store...

And Ida and Mates of State are touring together. I LOVE Ida SO much! And I think MOS are the cutest band ever!

SK! Ugh...We ended up leaving. I just don't like the new album. They played like nothing old (and when I saw them in Oct 2002 they played LOTS of old) so we walked out...I don't feel so bad knowing we weren't the only ones. That may be the last time I need to see them live. I am satisfied with being having been at their teeny tiny show at Oberlin college years ago.

But super yay MOS and Ida!! Woohoo! I will be there early front and center. :)

they don't play any of the new songs until like the very end.

i am really excited for the narnia chronicles too! i totally didn't notice the christianity as a kid so i'm hoping i can still block it out.

also, harry & the potters are so awesome. do you know if they are coming to minnesota?

did you go to oberlin? my girlfriend did. that would be weird if you knew each other.
